Opening up hard shoulder "a success". Call me a safety fascist but I just don't get it. For a couple of generations we have been told that the hard shoulder is hallowed ground, only to be approached in dire emergency. And now they turn around and tell us: "Oh no, it isn't."

  1. Of course, everything the Govt. does is a ‘success’ and they pay millions of pounds of our money to consultants to ‘prove’ it. Using the hard shoulder as a lane is madness. The problems on the M42 South are due to the loss of a lane following the construction of the loss-making ‘success’ known as the M6 Toll - in order to provide access to the M6 South.
