A380 flight booked
Rob Fisher

I am excited because I am booked onto an Emirates flight to Bangkok via Dubai on an A380.  Ok, so I can’t afford a private suite, and none of the exit aisle seats were available (and I found out what a bassinet seat was and so avoided booking one of those), but Emirates is supposed to be one of the better airlines* so I have high expectations.  I should at least be well entertained.  The external camera views sound interesting.

My flight is not until March and the A380 starts on 1st December, so hopefully there won’t be any hiccups.  Will I be the first transport blogger to fly on an A380?

* Not everyone would agree.

  1. I think you probably are. I was booked on Singapore Airlines SIN-SYD last year, but at that point they were only using the A380 for one of their three flights a day. What is really annoying is that when I booked the flight I had been tentatively booked on the A380 flight, but I changed flights. (This was before they announced when the A380 was commencing service, so I couldn’t have known at the time).

    I suspect that within a couple of years it will be hard to fly from London to Australia without flying on an A380, so I am sure I will fly on one soon.

  2. Very annoying.  I almost missed out because the first time I tried booking it was £2000 more expensive than a 747 flight at a less convenient time.  But two weeks later I tried again and either the price went down or I managed to game the online booking system more successfully because the premium was only £100.

    Needless to say, photos and comments will appear here, although probably not until I get back to the UK.
