Bus wi-fi
Brian Micklethwait

You can now connect your idiot toy to the internet in a South Wales bus.  There’s a great picture there at Idiot Toys of the back of the bus which explains everything, and it includes a link to this website, where you can learn more.  Good news for me.  If I’m in South Wales.  In a bus.

  1. One of the job perks of working for Google in Silicon Valley is that they provide minibuses with WiFi to convey you from your home to their offices.

This sort of thing is going to become pretty common, as to provide it all you need is a £150 piece of hardware and a £20 a months subscription from one of the 3G mobile networks. It probably won’t last long, though, as we will all have 3G modems built into our laptops within a couple of years and the WiFi will become an unnecessary step.
